Terms And Conditions

Our insurance covers 87.5% and the client is liable for 12.5% of the insured value (applies only when there is a police report).In absence of the police report the client is liable for the full charge of the damages. If the damages falls under USD$500 which is the minimum claim charge threshold the client will have to pay for the damages. Only 2 additional drivers are allowed to use the vehicle & should have provided their valid driver’s license.

 

The charge includes

  • Claim handling fee
  • Vat 15%
  • Tourism levy 2%

Excludes

  • Fuel-the vehicle will come with a full tank & should be returned with a full tank
  • Driver
  • Toll gates
  • Parking fees

Conditions of Rental

RENTAL REQUIREMENTS – At the time of rental the client must produce:-

  • Driver’s licence and ID/passport
  • Company order
  • Payment 
  • Zimbabwean proof of residence or a valid passport
  • Home and business addresses  and telephone number(s)

 

RENTAL PERIOD – Rates are quoted per day (24 hours). The Renter shall return the vehicle to Impala Car Rental at the agreed return date / time.  A grace period of two hours is granted before charging an extra day. Not returning the rented car on the agreed date or time without communication will be treated as a criminal offence. Impala Car Rental will report you the Renter the law enforcement agents for using the vehicle without our consent.

 

PAYMENT – All charges payable by the Renter shall be payable upon invoicing.  If any amount is not paid on due date to Impala Car Rental, without prejudice to any rights it may have, we will charge interest on the overdue amount at a rate of 3.5% per month compounded monthly from due date until the date of payment in full.

 

DRIVERS – The vehicle may not be driven by anyone other than the renter or by anyone else whose name is specified in this agreement as an additional driver. Drivers must be over 23 and not over 75 years of age.

 

DRIVER’S LICENCE – A current driving license be (held for a minimum of 24 months) must be produced prior to hire and certain endorsements are subject to individual acceptance. Failure to produce your license means we are unable to hire vehicles out to you.

 

CLIENT LIABILTY – In case of accident, the Client is liable for the first 10%; being the insurance excess. No insurance cover is provided to cover an accident damage or loss by the reckless, malicious, criminal or neglect action of the Renter or his/her passengers. Personal property is not covered by any insurance.

 

FACTORS THAT NEGATE COVER:

  • Driving  without due care and attention
  • Negligence & Recklessness          
  • Driving under the influence of alcohol or any illegal  substances
  • Unsuitable driving
  • Neglect driving on unsuitable road conditions
  • Unauthorised persons driving the vehicle
  • Unauthorised cross border  rentals
  • Not adhering to traffic, road and driving  regulations
  • Failure to obtain authorisation from Impala Car Rental  to extend the pre-booked rental
  • Not reporting the accident to Impala Car Rental immediately
  • Not reporting the accident to the police and/or not bringing the Police Report to Impala Car Rental within 24 hours.
  • No other  vehicles involved in the collision  unless exceptional  circumstances apply

 

Impala Car Rental reserves the right to terminate this agreement immediately after realising the following actions by the Renter:

  • Over speeding
  • Unauthorised driver(s) driving the vehicle
  • Negligent driving
  • Taking alcohol whilst driving
  • Not adhering to road traffic rules & regulations
  •  

EXTENSION OF RENTAL- An extension of rental can only be authorised by Impala Car Rental.  The Renter must notify Impala Car Rental in advance and obtain the agreement of extension in writing & pay for the extension where applicable. Failure to request an extension leaves the Renter driving the vehicle illegally and without any insurance cover.

 

CROSS BORDER TRAVEL – Vehicles may be taken into some neighbouring countries.

  • Authorisation  for  cross border rental must be obtained at the time of reservation
  • The  Renter’s original passport  and licence should be handed in at least 48 hours before start of  rental in order to clear the vehicle to exit Zimbabwe
  • Clearance procedures can be completed Monday to Friday only, with an exception of public holidays.
  • An additional cross boarder administration fee will be charged for all vehicles when travelling outside Zimbabwe.
  • Any extra cross border charges at the border are paid by the Renter

 

ACCIDENT PROCEDURE – In the event of an accident or theft the Renter must:

  • Report to Impala Car Rental  immediately and to the nearest police station
  • Obtain a police report number and the name of the police officer

 

VEHICLE MODIFICATION– Any modification to or mechanical interventions on the Vehicle are forbidden without prior written authorisation from Impala Car Rental. Should this rule be breached, the Renter will bear the duly justified costs, and pay a sum due in order to restore the Vehicle to its original condition.

 

BREAKDOWN PROCEDURE – In the event of a breakdown, the renter should contact Impala Car Rental and take precautions to render the vehicle as secure as possible. If the breakdown is proved to be caused by gross negligence, recklessness, criminal or malicious action, the renter will be held responsible for all costs including towing charges.

 

UNSUITABLE ROADS – Due care should be taken when driving on unsuitable roads, any damages and costs will be the responsibility of the renter. These roads include unsurfaced roads to and from National Parks, State Lands and Communal Areas. The Renter will be charged all damages and ancillary costs resulting from the damages incurred after using such roads.

 

TYRES- Any damage to tyres due to negligence & recklessness of the Renter will be the responsibility of the Renter.

FUEL – Fuel is not included. If we give you a vehicle with full tank it should be returned with full tank

SECURITY OF THE VEHICLE – The security of the vehicle is in the Renter’s hands throughout the rental period.

  • The  renter  must ensure that the vehicle is kept locked and secure at all times
  • He/she must keep all doors locked when driving
  • Always parking in a safe designated area

 

DELIVERY CHARGES – The Renter may be required to pay a delivery charge in addition to the rental costs. This depends on where the Renter picks up the vehicle and where they leave (drop off) the vehicle. Pick up and drop off in the Harare area and Harare Airport are completely free. Any other location will incur a delivery charge
